Quarterly Reading Recap: What I Loved in Q2
The End of Q2
Another quarter, another stack of books that I couldn’t put down! If you’ve been following along you know I set a goal to read 25 books in 2025 - and let’s just say, my pace hasn’t slowed down. Between quiet evenings, early mornings, and a few stolen moments during naptime, I’ve made some serious progress and am even considering extending my goal! Q2 brought a great mix of heartwarming and just plain fun reads. Here are a few favorites that stood out - and I’d love to hear what’s on your bookshelf lately too!
Q2 Favorites
Hunt, Gather, Parent - Michaeleen Doucleff
I had this one on my list during my pregnancy but didn’t get the chance to read it until now and I have to say it was worth the wait! I had heard a lot of good things about this book and while I can’t say I necessarily found this book revolutionary, I did feel like it affirmed a lot of the instincts that we have based our parenting style off of which was highly encouraging. While reading this book I also found myself considering topics/approaches for future stages of child rearing and this provoked intentional conversations with my husband that allowed us to align on practices in a proactive way. I’d highly recommend this book to new parents and families that are considering having children.
The Four Winds - Kristin Hannah
I must admit I’m on a real Kristin Hannah kick right now and this book was another amazing read! I fell in love with the characters in this story, especially the strong female lead and was hooked to the storyline right away! This book focuses on life during the Great Depression and how the dust bowl affected families and I loved the perspective that this story is shared through. If you’re looking for a heartwarming and heart wrenching story with a historical undercurrent, this is a great option!
The Wedding People - Alison Espach
This book was recommended to me by my friend and though the subject material is fairly morbid and dark, the story is heart warming and absolutely hilarious!! There were several moments while reading this book that I actually laughed out loud and the comic relief that came with the darker subject matter made this book a standout for me this quarter. If you’re looking for a quick, easy read with fun character development, I’d recommend this book to you!
Looking Ahead to Q3
I’ve got a few new titles that I’m really excited to read - some more fiction, a couple parenting books, and even a few Christian favorites. If you’ve read anything recently that you couldn’t stop thinking about, drop a comment or message me. I’m always looking to add to my list! You can also follow along with me on Goodreads!
Thanks for reading & happy page-turning!
